Gigi Hadid, a model and reality television star, was detained in the Cayman Islands on the 10th of July 2023. She was arrested on suspicion of possessing marijuana.
Hadid was reported to have been travelling with a companion and her luggage was reportedly searched by customs agents. Officials reportedly discovered some marijuana inside Hadid’s bag.
Hadid was detained and brought in, Hadid was taken to the Prisoner Detention Center, where she was detained for many hours. Then, she was released with bail.
Hadid’s representatives haven’t commented regarding her arrest.
Marijuana is legally legal for medical purposes on the Cayman Islands, however, it’s prohibited for recreational use.
The maximum sentence for the possession of marijuana on the Cayman Islands is four years in jail.
Hadid is set to be in the courtroom on July 12, 2023.
